Piet Van Baeveghem is the Secretary General of ‘The European Lotteries’ (EL). EL represents national lotteries operating their services for the public benefit and is the representative lottery sector’s organisation in Europe, present in 39 European countries with 70 members. In 2024, European Lotteries returned 26,4 billion euros to the public benefit.
Previously, he was Secretary General of the Belgian National Lottery for 10 years.
He holds a master’s degree in law and brings over 25 years of experience in policymaking, public-interest missions, and stakeholder engagement. His assessment focusses beyond visibility or marketing impact on societal value, integrity, and long-term sustainability.
